Brief

Onboarding is the preparation phase of the product. Users build a relationship with the product in that phase and it’s kind a first impression about the flow. Users get an idea about the product learn what is inside and what could they expect it.

First impressions are rough especially in the digital products. In general, one in four users will abandon an app after using it just one time. For that reason key aspect in the onboarding phases is to make it simple and engaging.

I decided to design an onboarding process for a VOD platform.

Color Scheme

Colors are very important aspect in the design and every color every image is give different senses about the users. Research showed that it takes only 90 seconds for people to make a subconscious judgment about a product and between 62% and 90% of that assessment is based on color alone.* In my design I consider to choose friendly, dynamic and natural colors to the users.

There are different types of color pick methods but I choose “analogous” color scheme for the app.

Analogous colors are contains similar colors. Analogous colors are any three colors which are side by side on a 12-part color wheel, such as yellow-green, yellow, and yellow-orange. Usually one of the three colors predominates.

Analogous colors usually occur heavily in nature and find frequent use in the traditional arts.

I want my app harmonious and feel natural to the user so in that sense I choose this color pick method for the app.

I decided to make a visual onboarding flow. Since onboarding is basically a step that adapts the user, I wanted to adapt the users to the product with the visuals and color scheme that I use.

Applications can be complex and challenging in terms of features found in them. With a pleasant onboarding process, I decided to prepare the user for the application and proceed by considering the feelings and thoughts of the target audience.

*This phase is just beginning, other flows are in progress!*
